Janice Mandla Mattingly was admitted to the Indiana State Bar in 1994.  Before becoming a lawyer, she was a Paralegal and Law Clerk from 1983 to 1994.  After working in firms for 10 years, Janice opened a solo practice, Carmel Family Law, in 2004 to be closer to her children’s schools and to better balance her professional and personal lives.

For more than 30 years, Janice’s practice has consisted of Family Law, including Dissolution of Marriage, modification of child support, child custody cases, adoptions, and guardianships, as well as extensive probate practice, including preparation of Last Wills and Testaments, Trusts and advance directives. Janice also has extensive appellate practice experience, having briefed cases before the Indiana Court of Appeals and Indiana Supreme Court.

Janice believes that it is important to contribute to her community.  As a volunteer, Janice provides pro bono legal consultation and client representation through a Hamilton County church care and resource center.

Mary Wisehart has been an attorney for over 30 years. She was admitted to the Indiana State Bar in 1993. She is a third-generation attorney. The legacy started with her paternal grandfather.  The courtroom is familiar territory for her as she has been in them since before she can remember.  She began practice with her father, and they continued to work together for over 17 years.  He was a knowledgeable and well-respected attorney, her mentor, a wonderful father, and a beloved grandfather.

During her career, she became a Judicial Officer, gaining the prospective from the other side of the bench as she presided over probate, estate, and family law hearings.  This gave her insight into what is expected and needed to win trials. 

Mary’s practice focus is on Probate Administration, Estate Planning, Adoption, Guardianships, Divorce, Paternity, Post-Divorce, Prenuptial Agreements, Partnership Agreements, and Postnuptial Agreements.  She is passionate about children and helping others care for their loved ones through life’s joy and challenges. 

Mary is a skilled litigator who hates to lose.  She is also a trained Mediator and believes negotiated settlements often produce the best outcome for clients.  She works to be part of the solution, not the problem.  She brings to the table creative options for resolution to your specific circumstances.  Mary understands client service is important and will communicate with you throughout your legal matter, helping you navigate the legal process. 

Mary is the mother of two children.  Her son lives in Arkansas and is a container designer.  Her daughter is a Registered Nurse, doing travel nursing, and is currently in Vermont.  Mary loves spending time with family and friends.  She also loves playing pickeball!

As an Associate at Carmel Family Law, Zoe VanDeSteeg focuses her practice on Family Law, Prenuptial Agreements, Estate Planning, and Guardianship matters. She understands that legal proceedings can be overwhelming during stressful and difficult times and is dedicated to helping individuals navigate their legal concerns through these challenging moments. She is committed to assisting clients, whether they are parting ways relationship or exploring estate planning matters, by upholding their best legal interests so they can confidently transition into their next chapters.

Zoe VanDeSteeg was admitted to the Indiana State Bar in October 2023. Prior to moving to Indiana and practicing Family Law, Zoe graduated from Chicago-Kent College of Law and earned her undergraduate degree at Loyola University of Chicago. While attending law school, she gained valuable experience by interning at the Center for Disability and Elder Law (CDEL). She also enjoyed volunteering with Wills for Heroes, a meaningful program that helps first responders by drafting simple estate-planning documents, supporting those who serve their communities.
